All local 131 apprentices receive top notch training put on by the KJATC. KJATC stands for Kalamazoo Joint Apprenticeship Training committee and receives it's curriculum from the NJATC National Joint Apprenticeship Training Committee. Once accepted into the program, an Inside Wireman Apprentice attends school and receives "on the job training", for five years. Upon completion of the Inside Program Apprentices obtain the Journeyman Inside Wireman classification. Along with it's Residential Wireman and Sound Technician apprenticeships the KJATC also offers jouneyman upgrade training such as code update courses,state journeyman and state masters exam prep courses, cat 5 classes and Instrumentation Technicians courses. Local 131 is proud of the KAJTC and it's commitment to training the best electricians and technicians in the country.
