Substance Abuse in the Construction Industry: According to the American Addiction Center, Construction Workers have nearly twice the rate of substance abuse as the national average, are seven times more likely to die of an opioid overdose, and represent 25% of all fatal opioid overdoses among workers.  We all know the physical demand of working in the industry.  Wear and tear or injury leads many in the construction industry to prescription dugs and opioids or self medicating with alcohol.  If you or someone you know suffers from substance abuse, please seek help and explore the available resources.

Suicide Crisis in the Construction Industry: The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention reports that Construction Workers commit suicide at 5 times the rate of the general population, one of the highest rates of any profession.  Studies show that union membership reduces the rate of suicide and overdose.
